Building a clock is an extremely satisfying hobby and well within the capabilities of anyone with basic cabinet making or woodworking skills, however, selecting a movement, dial and a pendulum can be rather confusing! - to assist Oakside has carefully assembled a range of Clock Movement Kits - one of these will suit the clock you are constructing (you are invited to phone prior to ordering if you would like guidance!). All of the clocks in the Oakside Collection are fitted with a Kieninger mechanical movement - our kits are also assembled around one of these 'top quality' German masterpieces - the kits also include a dial, a pendulum and all of the screws and fixings needed to complete the installation! - you can modify any of our kits by selecting an alternative dial and pendulum from options listed below!
Our kits also include the appropriate Polished brass weight shells, cable pulleys and the gongs, a drawing showing the primary 'movement, dial and pendulum' accommodation dimensions and a template for positioning the mounting holes required to fit these items into your clock - on request we will also include four rebated brass hinges, two brass mortise locks with escutcheon plates and fixing screws. The kit will be delivered free to UK addresses! We also provide telephone assistance when you are installing the mechanicals and commissioning your clock - our expertise at clock making will ensure that your new clock performs perfectly!
For Grandfather Clocks we recommend a 116cm Movement & Pendulum and either a 280x395mm Moon Arch dial or a 280mm square Dial.
For Grandmother Clocks we recommend a 100cm Movement & Pendulum and either a 250x350mm Moon Arch dial or a 250mm square Dial.
Wall clocks are normally fitted with a 65cm Movement & Pendulum and a Round Dial.
